What You'll Learn:

Through a mixture of classroom study, exercises, pair discussions and real-world trainer experiences, an attendee will learn how a Scrum project works and how to facilitate and coach a Scrum project. Techniques we will investigate include Vision Creation, the use of the Product Backlog, Backlog Formatting Techniques, Story Point Estimation, and how to use this to formulate a release plan.

After this workshop you will be able to:

1. Understand the practices of Scrum but with a pragmatic approach: you'll know when the rules need to be broken
2. Improve how you do Scrum now, whether your next sprint is your first or your 100th
3. Facilitate effective key Scrum meetings to get the best from your team
4. Know how to apply the techniques immediately after the course
5. Scale Scrum to large, multi-continent projects with team sizes in the hundreds

Getting Started with Scrum Project Management

With this online course you will cover what scrum is, and the elements of the scrum process. The trainer will emphasise on the importance of team work, and what the scrum masters role is in a team. You will become familiar with sprint meetings and daily scrums. We’ll learn about how Sprint Backlogs (the lower level of planning in Scrum) can work and we’ll experience it for ourselves in a case study. Many people struggle to get the Daily Scrum ceremony working effectively, but you won’t – after hearing some primers for helping you maximize the benefit for the team from this key principle.

Simulating a Scrum Project from Start to Finish

You will work on understanding the product backlog, including its deep characteristics. You will focus on how to validate your product in the sprint review meeting, and understanding the product process. Our course is designed to prepare you for the exam, using tips and techniques. You will experience how to coach your team through planning and through the powerful inspect and adapt technique of retrospectives. How to report this information in a clear and simple format is the key objective of Burndown Charts – which we’ll discuss in depth. Finally, you will discover our learning in how to apply Scrum to an enterprise environment. Scaling and distribution will be the key areas of investigation in this final session.
